Pakistans Prime Minister Imran Khan will visit Kabul this week, the Foreign Affairs Ministry said on Saturday.
Gran Hewad, a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said the Afghan peace process and strengthening political, security, trade and economic ties will be discussed during this trip.
The trip happens after President Ghanis telephonic conversation with Imran Khan last month, Hewad said.
President Ghani visited Pakistan last year and held talks with Imran Khan and other Pakistani officials.
This would be the first visit by the Pakistani leader. The trip will come at a time that the Afghan peace negotiations in Doha are faced with delay due to disagreements on disputed points on ground rules for the negotiations.
Abdullah Abdullah, head of the High Council for National Reconciliation, at an event in Herat on Friday said the Doha talks have had no progress and that they have not led to a reduction of violence in the country.
